Five-section Model

This collection model is the most common in Catalonia and has five sections that are collected in rubbish bins, in the street or door-to-door: yellow for light packaging, metal items and cartons, green for glass packaging, blue for paper and cardboard, brown for organic waste and grey for general waste.

Multiproduct Model

This collection model has four sections that are collected in rubbish bins or door-to-door: green for glass packaging, brown for organic waste, grey for general waste and multiproduct for light packaging together with paper and cardboard (this container is blue in the La Plana group of municipalities and blue with a yellow lid in other municipalities).

Minimum Waste Model

This collection model has four sections: green for glass packaging, blue for paper and cardboard, brown for organic waste and dark green, known in Catalonia as FIRM, where light packaging (plastic, metal, cartons, cans, etc.) and remaining inorganic waste can be disposed of together. Waste that cannot be recovered is sorted at the Molins de Rei packaging sorting plant.
